IPL 2018: Shivam Mavi declared fit for the clash against Mumbai Indians
He had missed the last encounter due to an injury.
The ongoing season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) has been in flux as they won only 5 after playing 10 matches. They need to win at least 3 out of their next 4 games and will be under immense pressure when they will face their nemesis Mumbai Indians at the iconic Eden Gardens on Wednesday. However, the young speedster Shivam Mavi has been declared fit for the crucial clash in what should come as a delighting news for their fans.
Mavi has bowled with pace and has troubled the batsmen in his maiden stint in the cash-rich league. At the same time, he has also failed to contain the run-scoring especially at the death and was tore apart by Shreyas Iyer for 29 in one of the games. Though he has improved after playing every game and would be itching to get back on the field after missing the last game against Mumbai.
Will KKR drop Krishna?
The official website of KKR confirmed the news ahead of their encounter against the defending champions. Mavi should walk back into the playing XI as his replacement Prasidh Krishna leaked 39 runs in his four overs in the last game. But he also bowled a decent last over and the team management might be tempted to give him another go. Though Mavi might get a nod ahead as it is the most important game for Dinesh Karthik and his men.
KKR have only a couple of home games left including one against Mumbai on Wednesday and would love to win both in order to seal their place in the playoffs. Their fast bowling has been the weak link this time around despite the likes of Mitchell Johnson and Tom Curran being in the squad. Even the Indian crop of bowlers have failed to step up to the task which has given the headaches for the new skipper.
