The cash-rich Indian Premier League (IPL 2018) is still three months away but the drama has already begun. The retention list was recently announced where the franchises threw a few surprises. But the biggest day is yet to arrive. Yes, the hottest auction is set to be held on January 27 and 28. Few players may see their fortunes turned drastically while the others may feel betrayed by the Lady Luck.
IPL 2018: Six-month extravaganza
Earlier, Star India had bagged the broadcasting rights for a whooping amount of more that 16000 crores. While many industrialists felt that Star had made a mistake, it was sure worth a shot. The broadcasters have made several additions to the next edition of the tournament in a bid to bring the matches closer to the fans around the country.
The matches will now be broadcast in six different languages – English, Hindi, Bengali, Kannada, Tamil and Telugu. This will attract a larger audience to the tournament. “We are targeting an unprecedented 700 million fans across TV and Digital,” said Star India Managing Director Sanjay Gupta as quoted by sportstarlive.com. The Vivo IPL will be streamed on hotter in Virtual reality also.
Gupta added, “The IPL will not be a six-month property starting with the retention event. For the upcoming auctions, fans will be able to get their voice heard by voting for their favourite players at vivoiplelection.hotstar.com for ‘Election se Selection’ campaign on the network.” This is surely going to be a great initiative by Star India. More and more people will get to know about the league and the tournament will expand at a positive rate.
Viewers will be able to choose camera angles and change languages as per their needs to enjoy the matches. All of this came be done at home itself. This is surely going to make IPL better and bigger. The richest sporting league is all set to become more innovative and exciting. It will ensure that existing fans have something new to explore and ensure that they are glued to the game.
