IPL 2018, Week 3: Top Five Expensive Fails of the Week
The IPL has seen no shortage of cash-flow while a few big players have disappointed so far.
4. Krunal Pandya (RTM’d for 8.80 Cr)
He was the most expensive uncapped player to be bought in the history of the IPL. Unsurprisingly so because he is the X-factor a team would need. However, nearly half the season is finished and Krunal Pandya hasn’t been able to repeat the heroics he is known for and capable of. Apart from the unbeaten 41 against CSK in the opening clash, his scores read 15, 11, 15, 7, 24. It is not as if he has looked out of form or anything as such but it is as if the bowlers have decoded how to get the better of him and they have been successful each time.
Against Sunrisers Hyderabad, when MI was struggling to score 118, Krunal Pandya was expected to be their guiding light. In fact, it appeared as if he was on to something, only for him to be outdone by Rashid Khan. His performance with the ball hasn’t been so dismal as he has managed to scalp 6 wickets in 6 games, with 3 coming against RCB alone. However, his lack of contribution with the bat has made the MI lower middle order look highly unstable, becoming a reason for their defeats so far.
