IPL 2019: Match 27, MI vs RR - Funniest Memes from the Match
It was a close game but the Royals won in the end.
The Rajasthan Royals (RR) have finally managed to evade the defeat and brushed aside the Mumbai Indians (MI) quite comfortably at the Wankhede stadium. Jos Buttler ripped apart the opposition bowling attack in the chase and it included 28 runs off Alzarri Joseph’s over as well where the contest in the match actually ended. He deserved a century though but Rahul Chahar was brave enough to deceive Buttler in the flight.
Starting the chase, the Royals were under immense pressure. They had to get 188 runs to register their second win of the season and the duo of Ajinkya Rahane and Jos Buttler were lucky early on. While Rahane was given out only to reverse the decision via DRS, Buttler was saved by the on-field umpire’s decision as it came out umpire’s call on impact when he tried to reverse sweep Chahar.
However, after these early reprieves, both the batsmen took the attack to Mumbai bowlers. The pitch got easier to bat on later in the game and they took full toll of the same. Rahane looked in sublime touch today and he made full use of it in scoring 37 runs off 21 deliveries. After that, Buttler got going and he was literally unstoppable. He raced away to 89 off just 43 balls with eight fours and seven huge maximums to end the contest.
But he deserved century on the day. Nevertheless, the Royals were in a brilliant position when he got out and should’ve got over the line easily. But they collapsed sensationally and suddenly the game was in the balance with two overs to go. With 14 runs needed at that stage, even Steve Smith was snaffled by Jasprit Bumrah to turn the game on its head. However, Shreyas Gopal kept his cool and won the game for his team.
De Kock’s knock in vain
Earlier it was Quinton de Kock and Rohit Sharma who got Mumbai Indians off to a superb start. The duo put an exhibition of some scintillating strokes and it seemed like the Royals won’t even take a wicket. But the visitors hit back stunningly in the second half of the innings. Mumbai strangely slowed down considerably and that cost them the game.
Though De Kock scored 81 runs, he was slow in the latter half of his knock. But Hardik Pandya once again came and changed the momentum of the innings to propel the team’s score to 187 runs after 20 overs.
