IPL 2019: Match 30, SRH vs DC – Delhi Capitals Player Ratings

The Delhi Capitals have jumped to the second spot in the points table after a clinical 39-run win against the Sunrisers Hyderabad in Hyderabad. DC came up with an excellent bowling performance to tame the SRH side in what turned out to be a one-sided affair. While it was all smiles for the visiting side, the defeat marked as the third straight defeat for the 2016 champions. Chasing 156 to win, SRH crashed to 116 to show very little fight in the match.

Earlier in the game, SRH were bolstered by the return of their skipper Kane Williamson. Williamson won the toss and opted to bowl first. The move worked great with Khaleel Ahmed sending the DC openers cheaply in the powerplay. Colin Munro and Shreyas Iyer got in to the 40s to keep the scorecard moving. Barring these two, no other batter could breach the 25-run mark as the Capitals’ innings folded for 155/7 in the stipulated 20 overs.

In the run chase, SRH got off to a flying start with David Warner and Jonny Bairstow adding 72 for the first wicket. Once Bairstow was dismissed, it was only a steep downwards dip for the hosts. Warner struggled hard for his 47-ball 51 but was dismissed at a time when the team needed some acceleration. Kagiso Rabada scalped 4, and Chris Morris picked up 3 wickets to bundle out SRH for 116. DC won by 39 runs.

Prithvi Shaw – 1/10

Young DC opener Prithvi Shaw has lost his plot horribly in the ongoing edition of the IPL. After having scored a brilliant 99 in the early days of the competition, there has been very few moments when Shaw has managed to dominate the big stage. He failed miserably in this game as well and could only score 4 runs before getting out in the second over of the match.

Shikhar Dhawan – 1/10

Shikhar Dhawan had an excellent outing when the Capitals last played in the season. He had scored a fine unbeaten 97 to announce his comeback to good form. The fans expected the veteran Indian opener to come good on the eve of the World Cup 2019 team India selection, but it was not to be. Much like Shaw, even Dhawan perished cheaply after scoring just 7.

Colin Munro – 7/10

New Zealand hard-hitting batter Colin Munro was drafted in the playing eleven for his first match of the season. He came in at the expense of Colin Ingram, who flew back to South Africa to see his new-born child. Munro grabbed his opportunity with both hands and brought up his highest IPL score. He scored a brisk 40 off just 24 balls with four boundaries and three maximums to his name. He provided a solid start to the team.

Shreyas Iyer – 7/10

After two early dismissals in the innings, DC were in a spot of bother. They needed to reconstruct the innings. While Munro took the role of the aggressor, it was Shreyas Iyer who took responsibility to play the anchoring role. Iyer played patiently for his 45 and consumed 40 deliveries for it as he hit five boundaries. He added important 49 runs with Munro for the third wicket.

Rishabh Pant – 3/10

The team India squad for the World Cup is all set to be announced, and all eyes would be on Rishabh Pant – whether he would make the cut or not. While the selection is not in his hands, he did have the opportunity to use the benefit of recency by scoring well in this particular game. Pant failed to do so. He got a good start but could not finish on a high. He mustered 23 off 19 balls with 3 fours to his name.

Chris Morris – 8.5/10

Chris Morris has been an unsung hero of DC’s success this season thus far. The way he has been nailing the yorkers in has been commendable. He was up to his task yet again and bowled a good spell of fast bowling with the new ball and the old ball alike. Morris returned with impressive numbers of 3/22 in his three overs and ran through the SRH lower middle-order.

Axar Patel – 3/10

Axar Patel had a tough day at the office. Patel has been bowling decently in recent times. In this game, he perhaps found himself bowling at the wrong time. SRH were under the pressure of a mounting asking rate and Axar found the ball in his hand at that time. He was taken away for 23 runs in the two overs that he bowled.

Keemo Paul – 8/10

Keemo Paul retained his place in the side despite not being in the best of the bowling forms. Paul, however, bowled exceedingly well in this game against the Orange Army. He provided the first breakthrough to DC by dismissing a well-set Jonny Bairstow. He then got the better of Kane Williamson, and Ricky Bhui as well. He was very economical in his spell and bagged 3/17 in his four overs. Also, on the field, he was a live wire and made his presence felt by taking a couple of good grabs and brilliant fielding.

Amit Mishra – 7/10

Amit Mishra came back into the playing eleven at the expense of Rahul Tewatia. It was a like-for-like replacement in the setup. The veteran leg spinner had a good time with the ball, although he failed to take any wicket. Mishra returned with figures of 0/13 in the three overs that he bowled. David Warner tried to take him on, but his variations and pace variations were too good to handle on the day.

Kagiso Rabada – 9/10

Kagiso Rabada was the pick of the bowlers for the Capitals in this match. He scalped 4/22 in the 3.5 overs that he bowled. To add to this, he took. a brilliant catch in the outfield as well. En route his four-wicket haul, Rabada became the proud owner of the Purple Cap as well. In the lead up to the game, a lot brewed up about the Warner and Rabada face off. It would be safe to assume that Rabada won this mini battle on the day.

Ishant Sharma – 7/10

Ishant Sharma has been bowling magnificently with the new ball. Since IPL 2016, Ishant has picked up 83 percent of his wickets in the power play. Team DC certainly worked on this stat and hence, handed him the new ball in this match. He bowled an excellent first over to David Warner and then continued his good form with the ball later on as well. He could not pick up any wicket and finished with 0/19 in 3 overs.
