IPL 2019: Match 32 – KXIP vs RR – Funniest Memes from the Match
The Royals are now in a must-win situation in their remaining matches.
The Rajasthan Royals (RR) fought hard, but couldn’t save themselves from a defeat against the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) at the PCA Stadium in Mumbai. The pitch was a decent one for batting and both teams had their moments. The Punjab bowlers stepped up and delivered the goods to get their fifth victory. With another defeat, RR lost their sixth game in the IPL and find themselves in a precarious position.
Punjab put up a formidable score
The Royals won the toss and elected to field first. Eventually, Punjab ended up getting 182 for six in their 20 overs. Chris Gayle started attacking the bowling and scored 30 runs off 22 before being dismissed by Jofra Archer in the last over of the powerplay. Mayank Agarwal looked ominous and his knock of 26 runs off 12 balls was cut short by Ish Sodhi in the ninth over. KL Rahul was a tad cautious in the first 10 overs.
Thereafter, Rahul and David Miller added 85 runs for the third wicket. Rahul picked up in the latter half of the innings and accomplished his half-century in 45 balls. Soon after, he fell prey to Jaydev Unadkat, who was the Royals’ most expensive bowler, conceding runs at 12 rpo. Miller scored 40 from 27 balls with two fours and as many sixes. Ravi Ashwin played a short, yet useful cameo of 17 off 4 balls.
Royals slump to another defeat
Rajasthan had another fast start courtesy of Jos Buttler. However, speedster Arshdeep Singh accounted for his prized scalp after the Englishman scored 23 from 17 with one four and a couple of sixes. After his dismissal, Rahul Tripathi and Sanju Samson put their heads down and got RR back into the contest with a stand of 59 runs, but that took 45 balls to come. Meanwhile, the required rate kept increasing.
Ravi Ashwin rattled Samson’s woodwork to break the partnership. Samson notched 27 runs from 21 balls with two boundaries. IPL debutant Ashton Turner got out for a golden duck. Jofra Archer also couldn’t make an impact. Ajinkya Rahane, who was sent at number four, strained in his 21-ball 26. Stuart Binny tried his heart out with a knock of 33 off 11, but valiant efforts, in the end, went in vain.
