It was an easy win for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) against arch-rivals Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday, October 21. Both the teams entered the contest after clinching a victory in their last game out of nowhere. While RCB had won the previous match against Rajasthan Royals (RR), the Knight Riders were coming after a victory against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).

The match was totally owned by the RCB bowlers today. The pacer Mohammad Siraj scripted victory for the Men in Red and Gold as he bowled a breathtaking spell of 4-2-8-3. With this exceptional performance, Siraj became the only bowler in the history of the tournament to have bowled two maiden overs in a match. Batting first, KKR could post only a paltry total of 84 on the board in the 20 overs game. The skipper Eoin Morgan emerged as the highest run-getter for his team with 30 off 34 deliveries.

For the Challengers, Siraj took three wickets while Yuzvendra Chahal also named two important scalps. The pacer Navdeep Saini and all-rounder Washington Sundar had one each to their name.

An easy chase for the Royal Challengers Bangalore

With just 85 runs to make, the RCB batsmen didn’t have to make a lot of effort. Within the powerplay, the team was reeling at 46 runs. Though an over by Lockie Ferguson changed the things a bit as he first took the wicket of set batsman Aaron Finch and Devdutt Paddikal also had to go to the pavilion in the same over after getting run-out. There was a change in the batting line-up of RCB after Gurkeerat Singh Mann came to bat at Number 3 while the skipper Virat Kohli came at number 4. The two together took the team to victory as Gurkeerat scored 21 off 26 while Kohli smashed 18 runs in 17 deliveries.

RCB’s victory over the Knight Riders by 8 wickets resulted in them climbing the points table and taking the second spot from Mumbai Indians with 7 wins in 10 fixtures. KKR, on the other hand, is still placed at the fourth spot with five victories in 10 games.
