IPL 2020: 3 players who can lead Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in Kane Williamson’s absence
Sunrisers, who finished fourth last season will begin their 2020 IPL campaign at home against defending champion Mumbai Indians.
2. Manish Pandey
Karnataka enjoyed a stellar run in the limited-overs tournaments during 2019-20 Indian domestic season having won the Vijay Hazare Trophy and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy under Manish Pandey. Apart from his brilliant captaincy, the Karnataka skipper was sensational with the bat amassing 525 runs and 314 runs in those two tournaments respectively.
The 30-year-old who has been a regular fixture in the Indian limited-overs squad has been retained by Sunrisers Hyderabad for whopping INR 11 crore ahead of 2020 IPL. Pandey who joined Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2018 after his four-year stint with two-time winners Kolkata Knight Riders has managed 628 runs in 27 appearances across two seasons for Kane Williamson’s men.
Given his vast IPL experience and recent success as a captain in the domestic circuit, the Nainital-born batsman who has 2843 IPL runs under his belt might be asked to lead Sunrisers in Williamson’s absence. If such a situation arises, then Pandey might just hope that his dream run as a captain continues in 2020 IPL as well.
