IPL 2020: 3 players who can lead Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in Kane Williamson’s absence
Sunrisers, who finished fourth last season will begin their 2020 IPL campaign at home against defending champion Mumbai Indians.
1. Bhuvneshwar Kumar
Bhuvneshwar who suffered a groin injury during India’s home T20I series against West Indies in December last year is expected to make his much-awaited during 2020 IPL. The 30-year-old who led Sunrisers in six matches last season will be the front-runner to replace Kane Williamson in case the Kiwi batsman misses out from the XI during 2020 IPL.
Under Bhuvneshwar, the Orange Army won two games and suffered defeats in the other four fixtures. The former Royal Challengers Bangalore and Pune Warriors India player who is the only bowler to have won the coveted Purple Cap in two consecutive editions, has been a vital cog in the Sunrisers’ setup ever since joining the franchise in season seven.
Bhuvi, who did not have a memorable stint in the last two seasons (took 13 wickets in 2019 and 9 wickets in 2018 IPL), will be determined to get back to his usual best after being side-lined from the game since 2019 December due to injury. Given his IPL experience, the Meerut-born right-arm fast-medium bowler might once have to take the responsibility of leading his side in Kane Williamson’s absence.
