Phehlukwayo who was a part of South Africa’s 2014 ICC under 19 World Cup-winning squad would have been a long-term investment for RCB given his all-round exploits. Despite being on the radar of several IPL franchises over the last few seasons, the Protea pacer, unfortunately, could not earn an IPL contract after failing to find any buyers at the auctions.

Known for fiery right-arm medium-fast spells and big-hitting lower down the order, the talented 23-year-old who is a perfect limited-overs commodity would have been a value-for-money buy at INR 50 lakhs. Apart from scoring 133 runs, Phehlukwayo emerged as South Africa’s second-highest wicket-taker at 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup with 11 scalps to his name.

His ability to bowl accurate slower balls and toe-crushing yorkers, make him an ideal death-overs specialist. Even during the two T20Is against India last year, he was economical finishing with the figures of 1/20 and 0/28. The speedster from Durban could have served RCB well in the death-overs had the franchise bought him at the auction.
