The Indian cricketing fans will finally get to witness some of their national heroes in action when the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) kicks off on September 19th, 2020. This year’s edition of the multi-million dollar league will be hosted by the United Arab Emirates owing to the upsurge of COVID-19 positive cases in India. Most of the players have already flown to the middle-east nation and have started training after completing their quarantine requirements.

The Karnataka lad is one of the most promising aspects this season. Coming from a highly productive domestic season for Karnataka, the 20-year-old is expected to hold reins for Bangalore-based outfit this year. He is an interesting prospect as an opener and things could get even more exciting should he open the innings along with Australian stalwart Aaron Finch.

Should AB de Villiers agree to keep wickets this season, Parthiv Patel may find it hard to find a place in the playing XI. This opens up a spot in the opening which can be adequately filled by the batsman from Edapal. He is a left-handed batsman which will help maintain the right hand-left hand combination in the top order.

In his List-A career, he has scored 650 runs so far in just 13 innings at an average of 59.09 with a couple of hundreds to his name. In domestic T20s, he scored 580 runs in 12 innings at a staggering average of 64.44 and a might strike rate of 175.75. He surpassed the 50-run-mark six times which includes a blitzkrieg 122*.
