IPL 2020: Match 30, DC vs RR – RR Predicted Playing XI
Will Ben Stokes continue to open the innings for RR?
Rajasthan Royals have gone back to the winning ways after clinching a comeback match against SRH. The positive sign for them was that it wasn’t their strong top order that won them the game, it was their inexperienced middle order that pulled off a stunning victory. Now, they stand with three wins and four losses at the halfway through the league and their chances of making it to the playoffs are brighter than before.
Their next game is going to be against Delhi Capitals (DC) and it could be a tough contest for them considering the form DC has shown in the tournament. RR would want to repeat their last game’s performance against one of the most balanced sides of the tournament. Also, the RR camp must be more relaxed with the addition of their star all-rounder Ben Stokes in the setup.
Here’s the probable XI of RR for Match 30, DC vs RR:-
Openers (Jos Buttler (WK), Manan Vohra/Robin Uthappa)
Jos Buttler has been out of touch in IPL 2020 apart from one fifty against Mumbai Indians. Rajasthan would want their star opener to get back into the form as he is a vital cog in RR’s batting order. Robin Uthappa hasn’t impressed with his performance in the middle order and RR might ask him open against DC. However, if RR decides to drop Uthappa, Manan Vohra can replace him at the top.
Middle Order (Steve Smith, Sanju Samson, Ben Stokes and Riyan Parag)
The batting order of RR looks extremely strong after the addition of Ben Stokes and Riyan Parag‘s match-winning knock against SRH. Though they have big names in Steve Smith and Sanju Samson but these two haven’t fired after the first two games at Sharjah. For RR to maintain their winning run and keep their playoffs chances alive, the form of Smith and Samson is fairly important.
Ben Stokes didn’t perform as per the expectations in the last match after he was asked to open the innings. RR might demote him to his regular position in the middle to keep things simple and let their star all-rounder settle down. Riyan Parag the young batsman would want to continue the same performance that made him took RR over the line in the last game.
All-rounders (Rahul Tewatia and Jofra Archer)
Rahul Tewatia’s role is quite important in this team, as he is expected to hit big shots at the end apart from being a handy bowler. He was the Man of the Match for his amazing innings against SRH. Jofra Archer will continue as their most reliable bowler and power-hitter lower down the order.
Bowlers (Shreyas Gopal, Kartik Tyagi and Jaydev Unadkat)
Shreyas Gopal is their lead spinner and his role is to pick up wickets in the middle overs. Kartik Tyagi and Jaydev Unadkat are their Indian pace options. They would be expected to team-up with Archer and Stokes to restrict DC’s solid batting order. As DC has one of the best bowling line-ups in the tournament, RR needs to bowl extremely well to make sure their batting doesn’t get under pressure.
