Delhi Capitals seal a spot in the first qualifier following their 6-wicket win against Royal Challengers Bangalore on Monday. Another slow start in the crucial game saw RCB posting only 152/7 despite scoring 35 runs in last three overs. Delhi sealed their spot in the top four when they reached 134 with help of attacking fifties by Shikhar Dhawan (54) and Ajinkya Rahane (60). The pace of Delhi’s chase got slow after the dismissal of Dhawan as they took 19 overs to complete the chase which ensured RCB also got into the playoffs on net run-rate.

4 – Delhi Capitals have won each of their last four matches in the IPL against Royal Challengers Bangalore. This is the longest winning streak of the Delhi franchise against RCB team in the IPL. The Delhi team managed to win just one game in the IPL between 2011 and 2018 against the Bangalore franchise.
End of Ashwin’s decade wait:
1 – Ravichandran Ashwin, during DC vs RCB, got the wicket of Virat Kohli for the first time in the Indian Premier League. The DC vs RCB was the 19th meeting between the Ashwin and Kohli in the history of IPL. Before the delivery that dismissed Virat, Ashwin bowled as many as 124 balls to the RCB skipper in which the latter scored 160 runs with 13 fours and six maximums.
Dhawan’s record fifty:
4 – The 2020 IPL is the 4th instance where Shikhar Dhawan has aggregated 500+ runs in an IPL edition. Virat Kohli (5) and David Warner (5) are the other players with 500+ runs in four or more IPL seasons.
40 – Dhawan now has 40 half-centuries in the IPL which are the 2nd most by any player in the league behind David Warner’s 47 fifties. Overall, Dhawan’s 42 scores of 50+ runs are the 3rd most in the league behind David Warner (51) and Virat Kohli (44).
Rabada equals his own record:
25 – Kagiso Rabada has claimed 25 wickets in the IPL 2020 which are the joint-most number of wickets in an IPL season by any player for the Delhi franchise (Capitals/Daredevils). Rabada himself took 25 wickets in the previous edition while Morne Morkel also picked 25 wickets during the 2012 edition of the league.
A record-breaking season for Devdutt:
5 – Devdutt Padikkal has smashed five fifties in IPL 2020 which are the most number of 50+ scores by an Indian uncapped player in the debut IPL season. The previous highest was four each by Shikhar Dhawan (2008) and Shreyas Iyer (2015); both while representing Delhi Daredevils.
472 – Devdutt Padikkal’s season aggregate of 472 in the league phase is already the most number of runs scored by an Indian uncapped player in their debut IPL season. Devdutt thus broke the record held by Shreyas Iyer with 439 runs in the 2015 edition for Delhi Daredevils.
