IPL 2020: Mumbai Indians' latest tweet suggests Rohit Sharma might miss CSK clash
Their caption "Let’s go, Polly!" attracted a lot of attention from netizens.
There can be trouble in paradise for the defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI) as it is speculated that their captain Rohit Sharma is unwell and can give the match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at Sharjah Cricket Stadium on October 23, Friday, a miss. Rohit’s absence can give a big headache to the Mumbai-based franchise as the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League is heading towards its business end and the race to the playoffs has entered its crux stage.
Mumbai have had a decent run in the cash-rich league thus far with six wins in nine fixtures. The team is comfortably sitting at the third position in the points tally with 12 points after registering a defeat against CSK, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Kings XI Punjab (KXIP). The Mumbai skipper was diagnosed with an illness during the nail-biting against KXIP on October 18, Sunday at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
In the post-match presentation, instead of Rohit, all-rounder Kieron Pollard had come to interact with the presenters. Revealing the reason for Rohit’s absence, Pollard had said that the former is unwell. Though Pollard wasn’t completely aware of what was wrong with the MI skipper, he had reckoned that the management was supervising Rohit’s condition. The West Indies great had further added that Rohit will be back soon as he is a fighter.
“I was told that he’s (Rohit) not feeling well, that’s why I’m here to chat with you guys. We’ll see what happens but he’s a fighter,” Pollard had stated in the post-match presentation.
Mumbai Indians drop a hint
Since then, the Mumbai Indians fans have been going crazy to know the condition of their favourite Mumbaikar. However, the franchise has refrained from making any comments in this regard. Meanwhile, ahead of the game against CSK, the official Twitter handle of MI posted a picture featuring Pollard and pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah.
Their caption “Let’s go, Polly!” attracted a lot of attention from netizens as it is speculated that this is a hint that Pollard will be the captain of the four-time champions in the match against CSK.
