IPL 2020: SRH pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar ruled out of the tournament
Earlier, Amit Mishra also got ruled out of the remainder of the season.
The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Sunday lost their third game in five outings of their ongoing IPL campaign. They missed their ace pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar who sustained an injury in the game against Chennai Super Kings (CSK). While many reckoned that the pace bowler will return after missing a few matches, Bhuvi has now been ruled out of the remainder of the season.
This comes as a huge blow for SRH who are already struggling with their bowling resources this season. His replacement Siddarth Kaul leaked 64 runs in four overs against Mumbai Indians (MI) on a small ground in Sharjah and didn’t look in great form with the ball.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar sustained a hip injury while bowling the 19th over against CSK and had stopped in his run-up itself. The physio attended him in the middle and did the strapping. But even then, the fast bowler couldn’t complete his run-up and walked off the field. Cricket Next confirmed the news of the cricketer getting ruled out of the IPL 2020 on Monday.
The Meerut pacer was one of the best death overs bowlers for SRH and had picked three wickets in four matches he played while conceding runs at an economy of only 6.98.
A blow for Delhi Capitals as well
Meanwhile, it has also been reported that Amit Mishra, the Delhi Capitals’ leg-spinner, has been ruled out of the IPL. He sustained the finger injury during the previous game against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and was off the field after bowling only two overs of his quota. The leg-spinner played only three matches for DC and picked as many wickets.
He had gotten a chance in the playing XI after Ravi Ashwin got injured in the team’s opening game. However, thanks to Mishra’s performance, he retained his place even after the off-spinner returned to the side after regaining his fitness.
Injuries to Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Amit Mishra are huge blows to their respective franchises as they will have to look for a replacement soon. And with the COVID-19 restrictions, the teams should make do with the resources they possess until the replacement player joins the squad.
