One of the top retained players of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in IPL 2022, Jadeja has been ruled out of the remainder of IPL 2022 because of a rib injury. The all-rounder sustained the injury on May 4, during an IPL match against the Royal Challengers Bangalore. “Yes he is ruled out, he has a bruised rib. He is out of the IPL,” CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan confirmed.

Although he is staying with the team, Jadeja was forced to miss the tie against DC. The dynamic all-rounder missed a match for CSK for only the second time since joining the franchise in 2012. Jadeja has already had two injuries in the last seven months. He had a shoulder injury in November, which forced him to miss a significant amount of time.

After a bad run of results in the IPL 2022, Jadeja renounced his captaincy and passed it back to MS Dhoni. He understood the burden of captaincy after never having done so before this season. Not only did the defending champions CSK struggle, but Jadeja himself also found it tough to perform. Jadeja finished the season with 116 runs from ten innings, two ducks, and only five wickets, making it one of his worst seasons in the IPL for him.
