These players have shown glimpses of quality in the previous seasons.
4. Dwaine Pretorius
The big South African fast bowler was signed by the 2021 champions, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the 2022 IPL Auction. Pretorius is predominantly a bowler, but he can also contribute with the bat at the back-end of the innings.
Pretorius made his international debut for South Africa in 2016. He was part of the South Africa squad in the 2019 World Cup. He played two games in the tournament and won the Man of the Match against Sri Lanka.
Pretorius is known for his variations with the ball and useful cameos with the bat. In his first stint at the IPL, he played six matches and picked up six wickets at an economy rate of 10.00. He scored 44 runs in five innings at a strike rate of 157.14. Pretorius’s initial struggles in the season kept him on the sidelines.
