IPL 2022: 5 Players who might not play IPL next season
While a few overseas players have been given limited opportunities to showcase their talent, some couldn't even make the playing XI at least once.
5. Matthew Wade
Matthew Wade, one of Australia’s T20I World Cup winning heroes has looked like a pale shadow of himself in IPL 2022. Although Gujarat Titans finished on top of the points tally, the Australian batter hardly made any impact with the bat. His poor performance this season raises serious question marks over his involvement next season.
Matthew Wade has played nine matches this season, and he has managed to score just 149 runs at an average of 16.56, and a strike rate of 116.4. This is nowhere close to the figures that were expected of him this season.
Matthew Wade might be among just a few players to be released by the franchise, before the next year’s auction. Gujarat Titans will certainly look to strengthen their batting, given that their bowling attack is probably among the best in the competition.
