Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have been one of the well-known franchises in IPL history due to the brand of cricket they play and the loyalty the fans have towards the franchise. However, what has eluded them in the 14 years of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is that they haven’t won a single trophy. Despite boasting some of the best T20 cricketers in their squad over the years, the closest they have come to winning the title was in 2016 when they lost to Sunrisers Hyderabad in the summit clash.
However, RCB would like to turn the history upside down as they chase the coveted title in IPL 2022. They have done a good job at the IPL 2022 mega auction, acquiring some good overseas cricketers along with quality Indian talents. The Bangalore franchise has made a good start to the season and will hope they end the trophy drought this season.

1. A new captain
The Royal Challengers Bangalore management appointed Faf Du Plessis as their new captain ahead of the 15th edition of the cash-rich league. The position was vacant after Virat Kohli relinquished his duties after IPL 2021. The former South Africa skipper has led his country to multiple wins and has also been regarded as one of the best captains in Proteas history. He has captained his country in 37 T20Is, winning 23 of those.
Besides, Du Plessis has seen MS Dhoni function from close quarters during his stint with the Chennai Super Kings. He has certainly picked a thing or two from the former Indian captain, which will come in handy this season. With significant experience under his belt, Faf du Plessis is expected to bring new ideas to the table.
The 37-year-old cricketer has looked proactive with his strategies so far, leading RCB to three wins in four games.
