Daniel Sams was brought in by Mumbai Indians as someone who could at least partially replace Kiwi pacer Trent Boult. The Australian left-arm bowler has been vastly unimpressive so far, and he was handed a thrashing by his countryman Pat Cummins a few days ago.

Sams conceded 35 runs in a single over against Cummins, which cost Mumbai Indians their third successive loss. The left-armer was hit for four sixes in the 16th over, as Kolkata Knight Riders chased down the total with four overs remaining.

He ended with figures of 1/50 in his three-over spell, despite having a decent start. He picked up the key wicket of Shreyas Iyer after a short ball ploy did the trick. Against Delhi Capitals, he conceded 32 runs in just four overs, without picking up a single wicket. It is high time that Mumbai considers bringing in someone like Riley Meredith or Jaydev Unadkat into their lineup.
