IPL 2022, Match 16: 10 best memes from LSG vs DC match
LSG won their third match in a row by defeating DC in the last over
The 15th game of IPL 2022 witnessed a clash between the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and the Delhi Capitals (DC). LSG continued their winning momentum as they trumped DC to a Six-wicket defeat. Having played four games now, LSG has won three games consecutively after losing their campaign opener.
Earlier, DC opener Prithvi Shaw was on a roll when he entered with the bat. When DC lost their first wicket in the form of Shaw, the team stood at 67/1, of which 61 came from the opener’s bat. Warner, back into IPL, and his old team Delhi Capitals couldn’t work his charm as he walked off scoring four runs in 12 balls. Ravi Bishnoi’s delivery spared neither him, nor Rovman Powell and thus DC lost three quick wickets.
After Shaw’s heroics, skipper Rishabh Pant and middle-order batter Sarfaraz Khan held the game tight till the end as 39*(36) and 36*(28) from the two, respectively, helped the team post a total of 149 runs on the board at the loss of three wickets. Looking at how LSG had been going since the first over, 150 looked like an easy target for them to achieve.
Lucknow Super Giants won in a thrilling encounter against Delhi Capitals
While defending, it became very difficult for DC to stop the LSG batters. They got their first breakthrough late in the 10th over when Kuldeep Yadav dismissed skipper, KL Rahul. Rishabh Pant tried all the bowling variations before the first wicket as all the six bowlers were given a minimum of one over to break the opening partnership.
The permutation and combination were just not working for LSG, as they couldn’t get past Quinton de Kock as he ended his innings scoring a brilliant knock of 80 (52). Anrich Nortje, who returned to the side after recovering from an injury, conceded 35 runs in just 14 balls that he bowled, and then was taken off from the attack.
The game slowed down towards the death overs as De Kock had to walk off, and middle-order batters Deepak Hooda and Krunal Pandya were handed the responsibility of the chase. The game got intense towards the end, lasting till the last over. A four and a six in the final over by Ayush Badoni helped LSG win the game with two balls to spare as they handed DC their second defeat of the tournament.
