IPL Auction 2022: List of players sold and unsold in Day 2 second round
With the auction event being its latter stage, franchises are cautious about their remaining purse amount.
Cricket fans all over the world have their eyes on the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 mega auction. The two-day bidding event has so far seen many players going big under the hammer. At the same time, several prominent names didn’t attract a single bid and went sold. Meanwhile, the second day on Day 2 saw fast bowlers and spinners being up for grabs. Khaleel Ahmed was the first name to pop up in the second set of fast bowlers and Delhi Capitals reacquired his services for INR 5.25 crore. DC also went after Chetan Sakariya and they had to splash INR 4.2 crore to get him on board. Meanwhile, veteran Indian pacer Ishant Sharam went unsold and the same was the case for Lungi Ngidi, Sheldon Cottrell, and Nathan Coulter-Nile.
While Lucknow Super Giants signed Dushmanta Chameera for INR 2 crore, Punjab Kings welcomed Sandeep Sharma for his base price of INR 50 lakh. Speedster Navdeep Saini will play for Rajasthan Royals this season as they signed him for a substantial INR 2.6 crore. On the other hand, Jaydev Unadkat will join forces with Jasprit Bumrah this season as MI bought him for INR 1.3 crore.
Second set of spinners didn’t attract big bids
Then came turn of the spinners and the franchises didn’t show great interest. In fact, the second-ranked T20I bowler at the moment, Tabraiz Shamsi went sold. The same was the case for Qais Ahmed, Karn Sharma and Piyush Chawla. The likes of Mayank Markande, Shahbaz Nadeem and Maheesh Theekshana did attract bidders but none of them could touch the 1-crore mark.
