With this victory, the Rajasthan side has now moved to 6th place in the points table, while the Kolkata Knight Riders are occupying the last place.
The Rajasthan Royals (RR) produced a clinical performance with both bat and ball to comfortably beat the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) with 6 wickets to spare. Rajasthan Royals’ skipper Sanju Samson led from the front with the bat in hand and scored a match-winning 42* off 41 deliveries to guide his side to victory.
Apart from Samson, youngster Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shivam Dube contributed brisk cameos as well. While Jaiswal scored 22 at a strike rate of close to 130, Dube scored 22 off 18 deliveries to help the Rajasthan side register their 2nd victory of IPL 2021. David Miller also scored a vital 24* off 23 deliveries.
For the Kolkata side, Varun Chakravarthy was the pick of the bowlers. The Tamil Nadu-born spinner took a couple of wickets and conceded 32 runs in the four overs that he bowled.
Kolkata Knight Riders produce a poor performance with the willow in hand
The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) huffed and puffed their way to 133/9 in their allotted 20 overs. There were just 3 willow wielders from the Kolkata outfit who could even cross the 20-run mark. While Nitish Rana scored a patient 22, Rahul Tripathi scored a brisk 36 at a strike rate of close to 140.
And, wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik helped himself to 25 with the willow as well. All the other Kolkata batsmen put up a shoddy show with the bat in hand. Chris Morris was the destroyer of the Kolkata batting lineup. Once again proving why the Rajasthan Royals invested such a huge sum of money in him, the South African paceman scalped 4 wickets and gave away just 23 runs in his quota of 4 overs.
Apart from Morris, the likes of Jaydev Unadkat, Chetan Sakariya, and Mustafizur Rahman scalped a wicket each for the Eoin Morgan led side. And, with this victory, the Rajasthan side has now moved to 6th place in the points table, while the Kolkata Knight Riders are occupying the last place.
