Irfan Pathan feels that Sunrisers have done well without Bhuvneshwar Kumar
The Sunrisers Hyderabad are currently placed in the second position on the league table.
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have been a brute force in the eleventh season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Their bowlers have simply been phenomenal and that has been a pivotal factor in most of their victories. They defended paltry totals against the Mumbai Indians (MI) and the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) which has earned them the reputation of possessing the deadliest bowling side in the tournament.
Moreover, Bhuvneshwar Kumar who has been a stalwart for them has missed four games out of eight owing to a stiff back. Despite, his absence, the bowlers have stood up to their tasks and decimated the opponents. Irfan Pathan, the Indian all-rounder who is commentating in the IPL, has touted the SRH attack as the best in the business.
“It is a big thing”- Irfan Pathan
“Sunrisers Hyderabad…the way they have performed without Bhuvneshwar, who is a big bowler…According to me, in the Indian team, if anyone is at par with (Jasprit) Bumrah in ODI cricket, it is Bhuvneshwar Kumar. And the way they (SRH bowlers) have performed without him in the last 2-3 matches, it is a big thing…,” Pathan was quoted as saying on TOI.
David Warner’s suspension, prior to the league, crippled them. However, Sunrisers’ bowlers have been able to cover up the chinks in their armour. The likes of Rashid Khan and Siddarth Kaul have been their standout performers while Shakib Al Hasan and Sandeep Sharma have supported them appropriately. The 33-year old cricketer also praised SRH for the optimum utilization of their limited resources.
“They have fast bowlers- Siddharth Kaul and Sandeep Sharma, but no big international name in their pace department…Only Rashid Khan (from Afghanistan) and Shakib (Al Hasan). But the way they have bowled is impressive. But with limited resources, the young boys are bowling well in right areas and doing well and so Sunrisers Hyderabad,” he added.
