Ish Sodhi drafted into Adelaide Strikers squad following Chris Jordan injury
After impressing quite a bit with the ball in his recent T20 internationals against Bangladesh, Ish Sodhi has been rewarded with a contract to play for the Adelaide Strikers in the ongoing edition of the Big Bash League.
Sodhi’s call to arms coincides with an injury to England pacer Chris Jordan who suffered a hamstring injury in the match against the Hobart Hurricanes. Sodhi recently had figures of 2 for 22 in New Zealand’s 27-run win over Bangladesh in the third Twenty20 International. The hosts won the three-match series 3-0.
The Adelaide Strikers’ Medicine Manager John Porter went on to release a statement on what exactly the problem with Jordan was. Moreover, Porter went on to add that he and his team were working quite furiously with the England cricket team’s medical staff to ensure that Jordan would be fit and ready to play the T20 international series against India in the coming month.
“Jordan has a left hamstring strain which occurred during the Hurricanes match,” Sports Science and Sports Medicine Manager John Porter said.
“We are working with the England cricket team support staff to manage Jordan’s fitness to ensure that he will be fit for their T20 series against India beginning January 26.”
However, apart from all this, the Adelaide Strikers have also been dealt a body blow with the likes of Travis Head and bowler Billy Stanlake being called up to the national team. However, with two players leaving, the Strikers have dipped into their resources and have found the likes of Wes Agar and Tim Ludeman to fill into their 13-member squad for the remainder of the Big Bash League 2016/17.
The most recent result for the Strikers saw them pull off an incredible win over the Hobart Hurricanes wherein Shane Watson slammed an impressive 55 to ensure that the quest for the semifinal was well and truly there.
