Amid the stern situation of coronavirus outbreak, the world has come to a standstill and lockdowns have been announced in several countries. India is also grappling against the life-threatening virus which is increasing by every passing day.

In the wake of coronavirus, India Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced a 21-day lockdown to tackle the pandemic. Every citizen has been urged to stay indoors to curb the spread of the pandemic. Meanwhile, many prominent names have stepped forward to aid in the battle against COVID-19 by contributing towards PM-Cares Relief Fund.

Gautam Gambhir had also stepped forward and had pledged to donate INR 50 lakh more from his MPLAD Fund for the medical equipment needed to treat the Coronavirus patients. However, to his disdain, Gambhir stated that none from the state government after his announcement and following to this, the former Indian player also pledged to donate INR 50 lakh more for the procurement of equipment for medical staff and treatment of COVID-19 patients.

Gambhir had taken a dig at Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and his Deputy by tweeting that massive egos didn’t allow them to take INR 50 lakh from his fund. On Monday, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal responded to the BJP MP Gambhir and cleared that the problem was not of money but the availability of PPE kits.

“Gautam ji, thank u for ur offer. The problem is not of money but the availability of PPE kits. We wud be grateful if u cud help us get them from somewhere immediately, Del govt will buy them. Thank u,” responded Arvind Kejriwal.

‘Time for talks is over’: Gautam Gambhir

However, that did not stop Gambhir as he questioned Kejriwal’s statement. Gambhir said that Kejriwal’s deputy had claimed that there was a shortage of funds and now, the Delhi CM was contradicting the statement by saying that there’s a shortage of kits. Gambhir also lashed out saying that it’s the time to act and he is waiting eagerly for the CM’s response.

“Arvind ji, first ur Deputy claims shortage of funds. Now u contradict him & say there is a shortage of kits Anyway, procured 1000 PPE kits. Please let me know where they can be delivered. Time for talks is over, it is time to ACT. Eagerly waiting for ur response #DelhiNeedsHonesty,” tweeted Gambhir.

At the moment, over 4000 people have been tested positive and over 100 deaths have occurred in the country. Amid these trying times, there’s no clarity on whether the lockdown could extend after completion of 21 days. At the moment, every citizen has just been urged to isolate himself to tackle the spread of the virus.
