It will be a good challenge to play in seaming conditions: Sachin Tendulkar
Sachin believes that the Indian Test side seems to be very well prepared to battle out the Proteas.
Indian captain Virat Kohli will be leading No 1 Test side for the first time in the African nation against a full strength Proteas squad. The tentative challenges and the different assessments will surely tend to make things a bit difficult for the visitors. Former Indian cricketer and batting legend Sachin Tendulkar gave some valuable guidance to the Indian skipper and his team before the start of the crucial Test series against South Africa on their own home conditions.
India have proudly enjoyed a sensational run in the last home season by dominating every opposition coming their way. They have defeated the likes of New Zealand, England, Australia and Sri Lanka in the recent home series and all the contests were highly competitive in the spirit of the game. But the real test of this Indian team will definitely rest upon how they perform against oppositions in testing alien conditions.
They sought to be very well prepared
Sachin believes that the Indian Test side seems to be very well prepared to battle out the Proteas in the seaming conditions. He stated that every player in this team needs to understand the importance of his individual role and a single player cannot force the result of the upcoming overseas series. The Master Blaster also feels that this new year tends to be the toughest phase for the Indian team.
“Yes. It will be a good challenge to play in seaming conditions in South Africa and England. It’s about the Indian team and not about any individual. As a team India is very well prepared,” said Tendulkar when asked about India’s upcoming series in 2018 as quoted by Hindustan Times.
Kohli should stick to the basics and play his normal game
The former cricketer also mentioned an important fact that Indian captain Virat will only succeed in his task if his team succeeds in the Rainbow nation. He also advised the batsman to just play his normal potential of game and should try sticking to the basics which will be very necessary. The legend feels that all the batters of the visiting team need to score runs heavily to accomplish the results in the overseas country.
“Virat Kohli will succeed if the team succeeds. Virat should just play his normal game and stick to the basics. The team should rally around him. India can only succeed if they can put up good totals. Runs will matter and not only Virat, but the entire team has to contribute. So, it’s not only about Virat Kohli,” added the legendary cricketer.
