Babar Azam, the Pakistan all-format skipper, has sent in his prayers for India, a country, which is straining to find its feet in the COVID-19 pandemic. The second wave of the virus has wreaked havoc over the last couple of weeks and the situation hasn’t shown any signs of improvement. The tally of cases is increasing and the death total has been increasing at an alarming rate.

The ones infected by the virus have struggled to find hospital beds and oxygen cylinders have been in a lot of demand. In the tumultuous times, Babar talked about the importance of showing solidarity and praying together. The Lahore, Punjab-born cricketer also urged the people of India to take the necessary precautionary measures to stay away from the wrath of coronavirus.

In the cricket fraternity, recently, Australian fast bowler, Pat Cummins, also came forward and donated $50000 to the Prime Minister’s (PM) Relief Fund in India for the purchase of oxygen supplies to Indian hospitals. Cummins, who’s currently playing for Kolkata Knight Riders, dropped a message on Twitter as he lent his helping hand.

As far as Babar is concerned, he, recently, played in the T20I series against Zimbabwe that Pakistan won 2-1. After losing the second T20I at the Harare Sports Club, the Men in Green made a comeback to win the decider by 24 runs. After the triumph, Azam lauded the team for their collective efforts.

“It was a team effort. The openers gave a good start, and the discussion with Rizwan and me was that we needed a big partnership and one of us had to take it deep. The ball was coming onto the bat well and our target was 150-160. They batted well in the first ten overs, they fought back well, but our fast bowlers came back better,” Babar told after the match.
