Jadeja bowled beautifully, MS best in the business: Michael Hussey
About qualifying to the playoffs and how close CSK was to reach the mark, the Australian humbly said, "We are almost there, not yet there.”
CSK snatched yet another win to rise up to the top spot in the league table and showed exemplary team performance against RCB in the MCA Stadium, Pune. They outdid the visitors in every aspect, and Kohli’s boys were wiped out of the match quite easily. However, SRH snatched the top spot by defeating DD last night.
Praising the man of the match Ravindra Jadeja, Michael Hussey said that his spell was a beautiful one and that it was possible because of the trust skipper MS Dhoni had put in him. Jadeja took 3 wickets in the game, giving away 18 runs with an economy rate of 4.5.
“I thought he bowled beautifully today. I think the skipper has been showing nice faith in him and that’s been important, giving him the confidence. It’s nice for him to get the rewards today,” said Hussey as quoted by SportStar.
About the other spinner Harbhajan Singh, the batting coach said that he has been doing a great job for the team. From his words, it is clear that forming the Jadeja-Bhajji spinning duo was in the team management’s plans from the very beginning.
“He’s been doing fantastic job for us though those middle overs. We based our team around spin to start with and we had the challenge of moving to a new ground, having to adjust to the conditions here.”
Praises for the captain
Coming to the captain, Hussey is confident that Dhoni is the fastest behind the stumps. “My observations are he’s got to be the fastest in the world against the spinners in taking the bails off. He’s unbelievably quick.”
His role in the team far exceeds being a good captain, and as a player, he is an asset to the team both in terms of wicket-keeping and batting. Moreover, he enjoys the game instead of taking every win or loss to the heart and encourages the young players to do the same.
“He’s such an important player for team, obviously he’s the captain. He’s a fantastic keeper, he’s been in unbelievably good form with the bat, probably it is the best I’ve seen him play for quite a few years.”
“He’s very calm, very relaxed, he’s very inclusive, tries to enjoy the tournament, gets the young Indian players to just enjoy their cricket. That’s why we play this game, to have fun and enjoy it. And MS really promotes that,” the 42-year old said.
On Playoffs
“Some days you win, some days you lose but let’s got out there and enjoy. Let’s play with a smile on our faces.” About qualifying to the playoffs and how close CSK was to reach the mark, the Australian humbly said, “We are almost there, not yet there.”
