Jio's strong IPL network lacks the energetic Royal Challengers Bangalore
Mumbai and Chennai have gained the most from the sponsorship deal while the other franchises have failed to catch up with the leaders in terms of sponsorships.
India’s leading telecom operator Reliance Jio have established themselves as one of the highest used networks in the country. Further, they have become one of the established networks for the Indian Premier League 2018 (IPL).
Not only have they charted out all the plans required for advertising themselves, but also have charted out a well-made plan for off-the-field activities. However, the only notch for the country is that they have only managed to rope in seven out of the eight franchises for the advertisement.
The franchise that misses out is the Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore who is the only one not on the list of the teams. Off-the-field, the network providers have made some incredible plans for digital and television push. Not only have they provided incredible network plans for their users, but also have a comedy show based solely on the tournament.
How have the teams fared in terms of Sponsorship sale?
Majority of the IPL teams have closed their sponsorship sale much earlier than they have in the past years. Chennai Super Kings have been the first ones to sell out their inventory, alongside the Rohit Sharma led Mumbai Indians who have collected ₹25 crores from Muthoot Finance and Samsung for the season.
While Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings have got their sponsors at 25 crores, their counterpart Kings XI Punjab have collected 16 crores, as per reports from InsideSport having Kent RO as their sponsor. Delhi Daredevils have retained Daikin as their sponsor for a premium of up to 20-25%.
On the other hand, Kolkata Knight Riders have tied up with Nokia, after a gap of three years. The only team which does not have an extravagant sponsor is the Sunrisers Hyderabad team, which Red FM 93.5 as their sponsors. Incidentally, the radio station is another such company owned by the Sunrisers Hyderabad owners.
Mumbai and Chennai have gained the most from the sponsorship deal while the other franchises have failed to catch up with the leaders in terms of sponsorships. However, will they catch up to the two franchises as they lock horns against each other in the tournament’s opener?
