Australia’s young wicketkeeper-batsman Josh Inglis is considered as one of the options for filling in the vacant wicketkeeper-batsman slot in the Australian cricket team. The right-hander has a tough competition for the wicketkeeper role in the form of Josh Philippe and Alex Carey. However, Inglis is making a case for himself to be selected in the national team by delivering stunning performances in the ongoing T20 Blast.

On June 20, Sunday, from the South group, Leicestershire were up against Northamptonshire at the County Ground in Northampton. Playing for Leicestershire, Josh Inglis caused a carnage on the field with the willow and went on to register his maiden hundred in the shortest format of the game. The England-born attracted the attention of the cricket fraternity with his attractive stroke play and hammered the ball like anything all over the park.

While Josh played some remarkable shots in his spectacular innings against Northamptonshire, one shot that caught the attention of many cricket fans came in the 15th over. Playing the fourth ball of the 16th over of the first innings, the 26-year-old played a magnificent switch-hit on short, wide delivery from Nathan Buck to the third man fence.

Josh Inglis smashed his maiden T20 hundred

Josh registered his maiden T20 hundred in the match as he remained not out on 103. His knock included 13 boundaries and four maximums at a strike rate of 166.13. Owing to the masterclass by the wicketkeeper, Leicestershire were successful in posting 200 runs on the board while losing two wickets in their 20 overs.

Apart from Inglis, Arron Lilley was also decent with the willow as he played a quickfire knock of 44 off 29. For Northamptonshire, Tom Taylor and Graeme White picked one wicket each.

Chasing 201, Northamptonshire failed to produce a decent performance with the willow. Rob Keogh was the highest run-getter with 50 runs. Apart from him, no other batsman took the responsibility to score runs for the side. It was a combined effort by Leicestershire as they were successful in stopping the opposition team to 166 for seven.

Callum Parkinson, Naveen-ul-haq and Gavin Griffiths picked two wickets each for Leicestershire. Thus, the team won the game by 34 runs.
