'Just love him' - Twitter reacts seeing Rishabh Pant 'chilled and relaxed' before heading out to bat at Lord's
With the situation being tensed out in the middle, Rishabh Pant was busy sharing a light moment among his teammates.
Day 4 of the Lord’s Test match between England and India was a riveting one, to say the least, as there was a good contest between bat and ball. If England took an edge by scalping the wickets of KL Rahul, Rohit Sharma, and Virat Kohli, then the home team, led by Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane, showed resolve, as the duo added 100 runs between them and helped the team recover.
As the pair were battling out in the middle, the cameras zoomed in on India’s wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant, who was seen being his usual self. The 23-year-old was lying behind Mohammed Shami and was seen relaxing happily. With the situation being tensed out in the middle, the maverick wicketkeeper-batter was busy sharing a light moment among his teammates, before he came out to bat when Pujara was dismissed for 45.
Pant waded a tricky period before stumps and saw off Moeen Ali and Joe Root. He was unbeaten on 14 and has Ishant Sharma for the company when the duo will resume the day with 181 for six on day five of the Lord’s Test match.
Here are few reactions:
Rishabh Pant is vital for India’s chances
It is well-known fact that Pant can change the complexion of the game within a few overs. The southpaw is also in good form in Tests in 2021 and will hope to add few more runs before Virat Kohli thinks of declaring on Day 5. If Gabba’s knock of 89 against Australia displayed his counter-attacking skills, then the 100 against England earlier in March showed his fearless side. During that knock, he displayed an audacity to reverse sweep James Anderson four with a new ball.
With the game delicately poised with India effectively placed on 154 on six, the hosts will need a Pant special to harbor the hopes of winning the second Test. He is not left with much support and has to bat with the tail to give India something to bowl at. Ishant Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami and Siraj are not known to stick around for a long time, and Pant must back his natural game of being aggressive.
