Kohli should break the record for most centuries as India captain in about 6-10 Tests: Gavaskar
Virat Kohli entertained the packed Holkar Stadium in Indore with his staunch batting display stroking his way to his 13th Test hundred against New Zealand. The crowd which had come to enjoy Test cricket in stadiums for the first time witnessed Virat Kohli getting back among runs. The skipper had failed to notch up a single big score after the double hundred against the West Indies.
It was also Kohli’s 6th Test hundred as a captain and his second one in 2016. He is now fourth on the list for the most number of tons made by an Indian, behind the likes of Mohammad Azharuddin(9), Sachin Tendulkar(7) and Sunil Gavaskar (11), who tops the list.
Former Indian opener Gavaskar seemed highly impressed with the knock and states that he expects Kohli to break his record for the most number of hundreds in Tests for an Indian captain in another six Test matches.
“I think another six Tests. He should be there in about 6-10 Test matches. We have got five Tests against England and four against Australia, so by the end o the season,“ said the 67-year-old.
