KPL 2016, Match 16 Review: Bellary win truncated match against Mangalore
It was meant to be a Super Saturday, with three matches highlighting the event. But rains ensured that the opening match of the day, between Bellary Tuskers and Mangalore United was a truncated one in the fifth edition of KPL event at the KSCA Stadium in Rajnagar.
Bellary Tuskers continued from where they had left off in the last match and registered a comfortable seven-wicket win in the playing time possible.
Early morning rains did not let up and in gloomy conditions the lights were switched on from as early as 8.30 a.m. By noon the skies cleared for a while permitting a seven-over-a-side match.
Put into bat Mangalore United struggled as Prasidh Krishna bowled well. Only skipper Karun Nair (25 n.o, 17b, 1×6, 3×4) made a worthwhile score as the team made 48 for six in seven overs.
Bellary Tuskers lost early wickets but with Amit Verma (26 n.o, 18b, 1×6, 2×4) anchoring the innings they won in a canter. Verma was adjudged man of the match for his bowling, fielding and batting.
