Legends League Cricket 2022: Shoaib Akhtar and Brett Lee indulge in a hilarious conversation ahead of final clash
While Shoaib is yet to bowl a match-winning spell, Lee shined well with the ball in his last LLC game.
The World Giants will be locking horns with Asia Lions in the final of the inaugural edition of the Legends League Cricket 2022 at Al Amerat Cricket Ground in Oman on Saturday, 29th January. Both have been the two best sides in the tournament so far and it would be interesting to see which of them would be holding that trophy aloft on Saturday night.
Just a few hours before the grand finale, two of the iconic pacers in world cricket were indulged in banter and by the look of it, it seems that the pre-match mind games have already started off the field. The speedsters involved are Brett Lee and Shoaib Akhtar. It so happened that Lee had posted a video of the beautiful winner’s trophy that was displayed ahead of the tournament decider and tagging Akhtar, the 2003 World Cup winner asked him whether he was ready for the blockbuster clash.
I was born ready, says Shoaib Akhtar
As soon as this came to Akthar’s notice, the ‘Rawalpindi Express’ confidently accepted his Australian counterpart’s challenge and said that he was born ready supposedly making a statement that the Pakistani speedster would outperform Brett Lee on the given day.
Both Lee and Akhtar, who used to be the tearaway fast bowlers during their prime would be expected to make a tremendous impact with the ball in hand in the summit clash. While Shoaib is yet to bowl a match-winning spell, Brett Lee had helped the World Giants snatch victory from the jaws of defeat against India Maharajas in the last game on Thursday.
Chasing a mammoth total of 229, all-rounder Irfan Pathan had brought India Maharajas in the contest with a sparkling half-century and victory seemed to be within touching distance for them after Irfan had hit 14 runs off the penultimate over bowled by Morne Morkel to bring the equation down to eight runs from the final over.
Lee, who bowled the deciding over kept his nerves and dismissed the southpaw off the very first delivery and just conceded two runs as the World Giants emerged victorious by five runs in an edge-of-the-seat thriller.
