Many have been impressed with Dagar's fitness.
The yo-yo fitness test has become the benchmark for the Indian players to make it to the national side. The team management, BCCI and the players are on the same page as far as the fitness is concerned. It has definitely made the difference to the Indian cricket as many domestic teams have also employed the strategy to bring the best out of their cricketers. Mayank Dagar recently cleared the most debated fitness test and his resounding score has impressed many.
Passing the yo-yo test has become the selection parameter for Team India nowadays which has come under the radar. Ambati Rayudu was dropped from the squad ahead of England tour for failing the same which irked many but the team is adamant on continuing with the process with fitness being given top priority these days.
Dagar beats Kohli and Pandey
Mayank Dagar who plays domestic cricket for Himachal Pradesh recently took the yo-yo fitness test and cleared it with flying colours. It is mandatory to go past the score of 16.1 in the test which most of the Indian cricketers manage to do it. Reportedly, the bar is set to increase up to 16.3 or 16.5 going forward. Though we don’t have the latest scores of the Indian cricketers, last year Virat Kohli and Manish Pandey were the top scorers.
While the captain managed to score 19, Pandey trumped him with 19.2 which most probably remains the known top score until now. Ashish Nehra had also managed to score 18.5 before he played his last international series. However, Dagar has easily gone past all these stars and his yo-yo test score reads 19.3.
He is only 21-years-old and that kind of fitness is really worth appreciating. The youngster will have to concentrate on his abilities on the field and shine for his state team in the upcoming domestic season to seek the attention of the selectors. He informed about the same in his story on Instagram as the followers were left gushing over his supreme fitness.
