'Mein mehfuz, Pakistan mehfuz' - Shahid Afridi shares a safety mantra amid Coronavirus scare

In the public service message in Urdu, Afridi asked the citizens of the country to come together in these trying times.

The whole world is reeling under the effects of the Coronavirus outbreak which has brought even the mightiest countries to its knees. Italy has experienced the most deaths in 3405 amidst 41,035 positive cases. China, the epicentre of the whole outbreak, has recorded 80,967 cases of coronavirus and has 3,248 deaths so far.

Pakistan has also had a total of 456 cases with 3 deaths so far. It is the highest number of cases in the Indian subcontinent and it has led to the whole system in the country breaking down. Even the cricket in the country has come to a standstill, with the knockout stages of the Pakistan Super League 2020 were called off on the day they were supposed to happen on March 17.

Shahid Afridi shares a public service message via PCB 

One of the most popular cricketing stars in Pakistan, who has millions of followers around the globe, Shahid Afridi was seen in a video shared by the PCB on their official Twitter account. In the public service message in Urdu, Afridi asked the citizens of the country to come together in these trying times and shared some tips and guidelines to stay safe amidst the COVID-19 outbreak.

He mentioned that health is wealth and people should wash their hands properly after and before having food. Hands must also be cleaned if someone is sneezing or coughing. Afridi also promoted the use of alcohol-based sanitizers to keep the hands virus-proof. He urged people to carry tissue papers in order to cover the mouth and nose while sneezing and coughing.

“Sehet hai to sab kuch hai. coronavirus ko shikast dene ke liye humhe aaj kuch zaruri cheezo pe amal karna padega. cheenkte waqt, nazle ke waqt, khaansi ke waqt, khaane ke baad apne haatho ko acche se dhona. alocholic sanitizer use karna. yeh bahut improtant hai. khaansi aur cheekne ke samay tissue paper ka use karein. mein mehfuz pakistan mehfuz,” Afridi said in the video.

Meanwhile, over 246,000 cases of coronavirus have been recorded in the world and over 10,000 people have been killed due to this pandemic, as per the World Health Organization and worldometers.info statistics. 7,400 cases are in critical condition and countries like Italy have gone into complete lockdown after recording more than 450 deaths in a span of 24 hours alone.
