Michael Clarke and wife Kyly announce separation seven years after marriage
The former Australian captain got married to Kyly back in 2012.
Michael Clarke was one of the pillars of Australian cricket for more than a decade. He featured in 115 Tests, 245 ODIs and 34 T20Is before calling it a day back in 2015. Moreover, he piled on 8643 runs in Test cricket and almost breached the 8000-mark in the 50-over format. While his performances on the field were excellent, he had very good support back home.
The former Australian captain got married to Kyly back in 2012. However, more than seven years later, the duo has decided to take the tough call and have come to terms on getting separated amicably. In fact, it was revealed that Clarke had moved out a few months back and they have been living separately.
But that hadn’t been made public. The duo was together during their daughter Kelsey Lee’s birthday celebrations and Kyly also posted pictures as their daughter celebrated her fourth birthday. Michael Clarke and his wife were seen together during the latter’s parents’ 50th-anniversary celebrations as well.
Thus, it comes as a slight surprise with the 38-year-old deciding to part ways with his better half as the split announcement comes only a year after Kyly admitted that her relationship and marriage with Clarke is going strong.‹
The couple release a combined statement
It is reported that the former Aussie World Cup-winning skipper has moved to the $8million house on Bondi’s beachfront. Moreover, it is also understood that the pair have agreed to the terms of divorce mutually and amicably. Both of them will co-parent their only daughter. Meanwhile, the couple have also come to terms on the financial side of it.
The star couple has also issued a joint statement to The Australian and explained that they’ve taken the difficult decision of parting ways as a couple on good terms.
“With the greatest of respect for each other, we’ve come to the mutual conclusion that this is the best course for us to take while committed to the co-parenting of our daughter,” the statement read. “We’d like to acknowledge the wonderful support we’ve had from family and friends, and at this time request privacy so that we can manage this next stage of our lives.”
