Mohammad Amir’s wife Narjis shuts down her husband’s critics with a stern tweet
Amir's beloved isn't a happy woman after the talks surrounding the fast bowler.
Mohammad Amir, the Pakistan fast bowler, has been grabbing the headlines for quite a few days now. A few days ago, the left-arm speedster announced his retirement from Test cricket with immediate effect. He made his debut in the format back in 2009 and played his last Test earlier this year against South Africa. The decision didn’t go down well with many of the former cricketers.
The likes of Wasim Akram and Shoaib Akhtar felt that the seamer shouldn’t have bid adieu to the longer format at the age of 27. Akhtar said that the decision was uncalled for since Pakistan Cricket has invested so much in the southpaw. Akhtar expressed concerns that the likes of Junaid Khan, Hasan Ali and Wahab Riaz may follow Amir’s footsteps and bid goodbye to Test cricket.
Amir recently had a wonderful campaign in the World Cup and finished as the nation’s leading wicket-taker with 17 scalps. After the retirement saga, Amir is in the news again as reports suggest that he may settle in London along with wife Narjis Khatun. The same is for the reason that his better-half is a British Citizen and Amir has been applying for a ‘spouse visa’ for making a shift.
The visa will allow him to stay 30 months in England and he is also planning to buy a home in London. But he might face some difficulties in obtaining the visa as he was previously jailed in the UK following his involvement in the spot-fixing scandal that took place at the Lord’s in 2010. In the meantime, there have been speculations that Amir may go on to play for England in the near future.
Narjis supports Mohammad Amir
A user on Twitter also called Pakistan a ‘terrorist country’ and asked him to leave the nation. Now Amir’s wife has come out with some stern words in support of him. On Twitter, Narjis who is married to Amir since 2016, didn’t mince any words in saying that the cricketer is a proud Pakistani.
The couple also has a daughter, born a couple of years ago. Narjis was clear in mentioning that their daughter Minsa will also play cricket for Pakistan if she wishes to make a career out of cricket.
