Mominul Haque open to the challenge of batting anywhere in the lineup
"I don't think that changing my batting order will have any impact because I am ready to bat anywhere if that serves the purpose of the team," he conceded.
Young Bangladeshi batsman Mominul Haque was seen as the next big thing in Bangladesh cricket when he had arrived at the international level in 2013. He was a certain starter in the lineup in the Test format. Given the kind of consistency he showed with the bat, Mominul looked like a promising prospect. Had he not been dismissed cheaply in the one off Test against India earlier this year at Hyderabad, he would have seen himself in the record books for having hit the most number of consecutive fifties in Test cricket.
Mominul Haque saw his form dipping since then and was not a part of the playing eleven of the team that recently played their 100th Test match. Mominul remains optimistic though as the challenge of playing Australia at home beckons him now. He noted that he is willing to do well at any position where he bats.
“You cannot maintain the same kind of graph as a batsman. The biggest challenge lies in overcoming the lows. I am confident that I can overcome it,” quoted Mominul Haque as per the quotes in Cricbuzz.
“I am not trying to do anything extra [as far as facing spin is concerned]. If you think it that way you will become blind. I am just trying to get over the mistakes that I have committed,” he said.
Changing batting order not to impact the form
The Bangladeshi team is set to host Australia for a two-match Test series commencing on August 27. Mominul Haque remarked that he is unsure about his place in the lineup but is keen on striving hard for a place in the team. He scored 73 in one of the practice games recently and wishes to keep his confidence levels going in the same way. He noted that changing his batting order will not disrupt his mindset.
“I don’t know whether I will play or not because that is not in my hand. The only thing I can do is practice and work on areas where I need to develop,” quipped Mominul.
“I have a practice match in hand and hope to do well over there. I am just thinking there are some pace bowlers and how they bowl but nothing more than that. I have the confidence to do well against them if I can execute my plans properly. I don’t think that changing my batting order will have any impact because I am ready to bat anywhere if that serves the purpose of the team,” he conceded.
