'Most cricketers are taller than you' - Dean Jones and Parthiv Patel indulge in hilarious Twitter banter
Dean Jones takes a dig at Parthiv Patel's height.
Parthiv Patel was one of the few positives that came out of what was eventually another dismal season for the Royal Challengers Bangalore [RCB]. The southpaw finished as the third-highest run-getter [373 in 14 games]. But, ultimately, the runs couldn’t help RCB’s disastrous campaign as the Kohli-led franchise finished with a wooden spoon after having managed just five out of the 14 league-stage encounters.
RCB had a settled opening pair of Devdutt Padikkal and Parthiv Patel leading into the 2019 auctions, and so it surprised a plethora of fans when the Mike Hesson-Simon Katich-led management opted for another opener in the form of Aaron Finch. Nevertheless, Parthiv and Dean Jones were at it again with their back and forth banter on Twitter.
Dean Jones took to Twitter where he wrote, “How lucky are you @parthiv9 opening the batting with an Aussie @AaronFinch5.. you life just got easier! @RCBTweets He still is taller than you… but then again.. most cricketers are!”
And, Parthiv, who is quite active on social media these days took a subtle dig at Jones, taunting him for not spending much time in Australia, unlike Aaron Finch. Parthiv replied, “I like to work with an Aussie…@AaronFinch5 is brilliant..and he is spending more time in Australia…unlike u @ProfDeano ..thank god u r gng home at least for Christmas…merry Christmas”
This is not the first time that Dean Jones and Parthiv Patel have been involved in banter on Twitter
It all started last month when one of the fans had asked Jones as to who should open the batting for RCB: “Got a question for you @ProfDeano. Who should open for RCB in 2020? Kohli and Parthiv or Umesh and Kohli???”
Taking a subtle dig at Parthiv’s height, Jones replied, “I think @parthiv9 is too small!”
Patel was not the one to leave it without a befitting reply. The wicketkeeper proceeded to tell Jones: “So that u can be at peace during ipl in #selectdugout….”
Coming back to the RCB squad, opting for Aaron Finch has thrown in a conundrum of sorts for the Virat Kohli-led franchise. Do they go with Parthiv and Finch or do they leave out Finch and go with Parthiv and Devdutt Padilkal, purely because Patel is best-suited for the opening spot.
