MS Dhoni walking out to bat at the MSG is a moment to savour for ages
Dhoni scored an unbeaten 87 in the match to steer India home in the game and series as well.
Veteran Indian cricketer MS Dhoni is arguably one of the most popular names in the world cricket. The 37-year-old recently guided Team India to a historic ODI series win down under. Just when the pundits and the critics had started writing him off and had started asking for the inclusion of young turks like Rishabh Pant in the side, Dhoni arrived at the scene and hammered three consecutive fifties.
On two occasions out of these, he ensured that his side got over the line and ended with a 2-1 scorecard, registering their first bilateral ODI series win on Australian soil. The series is done and dusted. India’s next assignment is now a limited-overs tour of New Zealand. While the team gears up for the action, Mahendra Singh Dhoni is silently soaking in all the admiration and applause that is coming his way.
Now, a video has gone viral on social media that speaks volumes about the popularity of this national hero. In the video, Dhoni is walking out to bat at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). The footage is from the third ODI of the series when Dhoni was promoted to bat in at number four.
The maestro dons his gloves, and treads down the stairs from the dressing room to a huge round of applause and chants of ‘Dhoni, Dhoni’ from the crowd. Unfazed by all the attention, he silently walks in to bat.

MS Dhoni, the answer to number 4 conundrum?
In the match, India were chasing a modest total of 230 to win. The number 4 slot has been their worry for a while now, and Dhoni was tried at the slot in the game. The former skipper took the opportunity with both hands to prove he is well suited for the role. At least a few former cricketers think so and have already voiced out their votes for Dhoni to be India’s number 4 in the World Cup 2019. Dhoni scored an unbeaten 87 in the match to steer India home.
