MS Dhoni's advice always reminded me of my coach: Kuldeep Yadav
Kuldeep has time and again credited MS Dhoni for his success in international cricket.
Kuldeep Yadav, when he made his international debut, was termed as mystery spinner. But as he spent more days at the highest level, it was important for him to come up with variations and someone needed to guide him always. And MS Dhoni did that job from behind the stumps during the match. He always used to guide the two wrist spinners, Kuldeep and Yuzvendra Chahal based on the batsman’s footwork and they used to reap immediate rewards.
The duo has time and again credited the veteran wicket-keeper for their success and the chinaman once again showered praises on him in a chat with a sports journalist Boria Majumdar. While speaking about Dhoni’s impact on his bowling, Kuldeep Yadav revealed the kind of advices the former used to give him.
He claimed that Dhoni used to tell him to always try and spin the ball and not bowl it flatter or quicker. According to the 25-year-old, this is the best advice Dhoni gave to him and it always reminds him of his coach. “There have been so many (advices). Most of the times when he (MS Dhoni) was behind the wickets, he always told me to try and spin the ball rather than bowling flat and quick. This reminds me of my coach.
“That is the best things which I ever heard from MS. I never felt like I am missing my coach,” Kuldeep Yadav said in a Fancode’s special segment ‘Lockdown but Not Out’.
Kuldeep Yadav picks a batsman from the past he would love to take a wicket of
During the interaction, the spinner was also asked to pick a batsman from the past he would’ve loved to take a wicket of and the first name he took was of the legendary Sachin Tendulkar. However, later he mentioned the fact that as Sachin played for India, he could not have got him out. Eventually, Kuldeep Yadav wished to pick a wicket of Brian Lara and Michael Clarke both of whom were exceptional batsmen during their playing days.
