Kolkata Knight Riders’ defeat against the Mumbai Indians in the 5th league match of the Indian Premier League left many surprised. After Eoin Morgan asked MI to bat first, his bowlers did an exceptional job to restrict them to a below-par total of 152. More surprisingly, MI went onto lose all of their wickets in the process of getting to the score, while as many as seven wickets fell in the last five overs.

Chasing an under-par target after a good bowling display, they got off to flying start as both Nitish Rana and Shubman Gill added a 72-run opening stand. At the halfway mark, none could have imagined the collapse that awaited as KKR lost one batsman after another and fell trapped.

KKR needed 31 runs from 30 balls two of their most reliable finishers, Diniesh Karthik and Andre Russell, in the middle in a chase of 153. A dramatic collapse that followed led them to fall 10 runs behind to record their 22nd loss against MI in the IPL history.

Mumbai Indians solve the mystery

Much like every year, the families of the MI players were cheering from the stands during the tense atmosphere. In a viral image from the night, Rohit Sharma’s wife, Ritika, can be seen surprised looking at Natasa’s screen.

The moment left many fans curious as to what led to such a reaction from the wife of the MI skipper. Not leaving them to guess for too long, the Mumbai Indians franchise revealed the suspense on social media by posting an image to solve the mystery for the fans.

Giving his hundred percent in the game, the Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma had introduced himself to bowl when nothing was going his team’s way and the opposition was cruising towards a win. In doing that, he even twisted his ankle horribly, although he did not cause himself much harm.

Mumbai Indians opened their account with the 10-run win against KKR, and will next face Sunrisers Hyderabad on 17th April.
