Mumbai Indians will unleash lethal performances after few games: Deep Dasgupta
Mumbai Indians suffered a four-wicket defeat against Delhi Capitals in their opening clash of IPL 2022.
In their first clash of IPL 2022, Mumbai Indians were stunned by Delhi Capitals on Sunday at Brabourne Stadium, suffering a four-wicket defeat. While skipper Rohit Sharma amassed 41 runs off 32 balls with four fours and two sixes, Ishan Kishan stole the limelight with an unbeaten 81 runs off just 48 deliveries to help his team post 177/5 in 20 overs.
Despite Basil Thampi and Murugan Ashwin picking three and two wickets respectively, Delhi Capitals comprehensively chased down the target. For Delhi, Lalit Yadav and Axar Patel played blistering cameos to pull off a stunning victory for their side.
Notably, Jasprit Bumrah and Daniel Sams conceded 100 runs between them in 7.2 overs and finished the game without taking a single wicket. Mumbai Indians, who are five-time champions and known as the most successful franchise in the tournament, followed their previous trend of failing to win their first game of the match.
Mumbai Indians will surprise many as the tournament progresses: Deep Dasgupta
Post MI defeat, former cricketer Deep Dasgupta said that Mumbai Indians will unveil their actual performance after a couple of matches as they always do. “Mumbai Indians will unleash their lethal performance somewhere around May. They are known for this and will continue to surprise many as the tournament progresses,” Deep Dasgupta said on Sky247.net presents ‘Not Just Cricket Show’ on CricTracker.
Dasgupta further shared, “Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan are in prime form. And once the other players settle in, Mumbai Indians will surely outplay mighties of the game.” On asked if MI is one of his favourite franchises, Dasgupta confessed, “Why not? Mumbai Indians have the right talent, and they will surely do well in the tournament.”
After losing the first clash against the Delhi Capitals, Mumbai Indians will take on Rajasthan Royals on April 2 at Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy in Mumbai. It must be noted that Suryakumar Yadav is expected to be available for the fixture, which would certainly bolster the side’s batting line-up.
