New Zealand's Probable squad for Cricket World Cup 2015
Always short of their potential during the series’ round the year, the Trans-Tasmans have never failed to provide quality entertainment and performance when it comes to Cricket’s biggest tournament, a.k.a., Cricket World Cup. Making it to the semi-finals in 6 editions, out of the 10 that have been played so far, the Kiwis would like to go one step further and win the trophy, when the event will be held at their home (alongside Australia) this summer.
With inconsistent but powerful batsmen in the side, the Kiwis will hope that each one of them click at the right time, when the mega-event returns to the country after 23 long years (last held in 1992). All teams are dangerous in their home, as they know the conditions better than other teams and the crowd is also behind them. Termed as the dark horse, it won’t be a surprise if they go on marching till the finals (probably win it too).
Let us have a look at the probable team that the Kiwis’ selectors may opt for going into the World Cup.
Probable Team:
Openers: Martin Guptill, Jesse Ryder
Reserve: Rob Nicol
With the explosive and experienced Brendon McCullum opting to move down the order and James Neesham failing to negotiate with the new ball, New Zealand would probably opt for the experienced duo of Martin Guptill and Jesse Ryder as their openers with Rob Nicol in the bench for the mega-tournament. The ability of both the batsmen is beyond any doubt as they have handled the pressure in the past with ease and are also accustomed to the conditions that will be on offer at home.
