The Indian skipper Virat Kohli is making the headlines nowadays for his scintillating run-churning spree in the ongoing ODI series against the Windies. He has scored three consecutive centuries so far and with two more matches to go, the 29-year-old looks set to pile on the agony on the visitors. However, Nick Compton, the former England cricketer, has faced the heat on social media for trying to degrade Kohli’s stellar achievement.

Windies is clearly not playing their best side with the likes of Chris Gayle and Evin Lewis pulling out while Andre Russell is injured. But the young side has put up a spirited display and managed to level the series after three matches. Despite trying all the things, the Caribbean bowlers have been unable to get better of Kohli who has amassed 404 runs so far only in three matches and is looking good to score more.

Consistency = Virat Kohli

Amazed by his consistency, Aakash Chopra took to his official Twitter handle to laud Virat Kohli. He also went on to say that the Oxford is pondering over changing the meaning of consistency to the Indian captain’s name. “Heard that the Oxford Dictionary is considering replacing ‘Consistency’ with ‘Kohli’. Makes a lot of sense #IndvWI #37,” Chopra had tweeted after the second ODI.

However, Nick Compton tried to take a dig on Kohli’s achievement as he questioned Windies’ credentials as an ODI team. He replied, “Against the West Indies?” in a way trying to say that the achievement is by no means a special one as it was against a weakened Caribbean team. While the fact that the bowling attack is not at its best, no feat can be undermined in cricket at the highest level and scoring three consecutive centuries is not a joke at all.

Understandably, one of the Indian fans abused Compton for doing the same and the England cricketer didn’t hold himself back saying that the abusing word is Virat Kohli’s favourite word while he is on the field.

Here’s the thread of the whole convo:
