Had no doubts about safety in Pakistan, says this English cricketer
Also, he had special words of praise for the atmosphere that was there at the stadium during the matches in the playoffs.
The recent edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) saw three major games being played on the Pakistani soil. Certainly, it was a big boost for the sport in the country that has been trying to bring back international cricket to their land. In the finals of PSL 2018, Islamabad United beat the Peshawar Zalmi to lift the title. The overseas contingent of the United camp expressed their satisfaction about the security levels in Pakistan. Among the ones praising the security levels was Samit Patel.
Samit Patel played a key role for Islamabad United this season. He proved to be an ideal all-rounder for them. He returned with impressive numbers of 2/26 in the finals against Zalmi and had earlier scalped a four wicket haul against the same opposition in the league stages. As per the recent quotes in Nottinghampost, Samit noted that he had no doubts about the security levels in Pakistan and was absolutely happy with it.
“The way we were treated there, I had no doubts whatsoever about my safety. We were as safe as you could be anywhere really. They were very diligent. I could see the security everywhere, especially in our hotel, whether it was on our floor or in the lobby. No one can get to you,” Samit Patel quoted.
‘It was a great experience’
Commenting further on the same note, Samit Patel remarked that it was great playing in front of the Pakistani fans. He felt good to contribute to the winning cause of the Islamabad franchise, firmly led by Misbah-ul-Haq. Also, he had special words of praise for the atmosphere that was there at the stadium during the matches in the playoffs.
“It was a great experience. To see cricket back in Pakistan was a really good sight. They’re cricket obsessives, so it was great to be a part of. It was great to be in the Islamabad family, as we called it. To win it was fantastic. The atmosphere was amazing. The game started at 8pm, but they were all in by 5pm. It was a great advert for T20 cricket back in Pakistan. Taking cricket back there is fantastic,” Patel conceded.
