AB de Villiers has taken the cricketing world by shock when he announced his sudden retirement on Wednesday. AB de Villiers played international cricketer for 14 long years and many numerous records to his name. The Superman from South Africa owns the record for fastest 50,100 and 150 in ODI cricket.

As soon as ABD flew back to South Africa after the IPL, he announced his retirement. This came in as a huge surprise as he is one of the main men in the Proteas batting lineup. He has played well against India and Australia recently and has also had a very good IPL even though RCB failed to make it through. ABD was expected to continue at least until the end of World Cup 2019 and fulfil his dream of lifting a WC.

He is still one of the fittest cricketers around and definitely had a lot of cricket left in him. However, he felt that his body has taken a lot and told that he was too tired to carry on in his retirement speech.

My favourite Indian cricketer is …!

AB de Villiers who was in India recently for the IPL revealed a lot of secrets in a talk show. In a show called ‘What the Duck’ hosted by Vikram Sathaye, ABD participated along with his former South African teammate Jonty Rhodes. The duo recalled a lot of memories during their playing times.

It was a delight to watch ABD open up on the show and reveal a lot of secrets. ABD has shared information about various pranks and about how he troubled his former skipper Graeme Smith. He also shared insights about how he proposed his wife at the Taj Mahal.

When asked about his favourite Indian cricketer, ABD had no hesitation in naming Virender Sehwag. He told that he liked his aggressive attitude while Jonty named Suresh Raina his favourite Indian cricketer. It is surprising that ABD didn’t name Virat Kohli his favourite Indian cricketer as these two share an amazing rapport.

That’s not all, AB also couldn’t control his laughter when the show’s host revealed that Sehwag likes to sing while he’s on the crease taking on the bowlers. Villiers confessed that it’s funny to picture Virender Sehwag singing, he said, “Sorry I’m laughing. I’m just picturing Viru singing.”

“That’s what I like about him as a player. He is competitive… No matter which team he plays for, he wants to win, he wants to have an impact on the game and very similar to me although I don’t show it as much as he does on the field,” ABD told speaking about Virat Kohli.
