Nottinghamshire rope in New Zealand leg-spinner Ish Sodhi
Notts-Outlaws have completed the signing of Kiwi leg-spinner, Ish Sodhi to feature in the entire Natwest T20 Blast 2017 after the later made a colossal impact in the recent Big Bash.
Representing the Adelaide Strikers, the India-born Sodhi managed to earn six wickets for just 11 runs against the Sydney Thunder which helped him catch the limelight at the world stage.
The spinner who has 41 international caps under his belt, is a hot property in the T20 market with 60 wickets at an economy rate of 7.14. He has not only been seen in the Striker’s jersey but has also been a part of the Northern Districts.
To top it all, the right arm leg break bowler’s international performance in the shorter version of the game has been even more impressive with 21 wickets at an average of 14 and a strike rate of a wicket every 13 balls.
“Ish is a young player whose game has really moved forward,” said Nottinghamshire Head Coach Peter Moores. “He’s growing fast and we’re really excited to have him.”
“He’s not been to England before, so he is an unknown quantity for our opposition and we’ve seen the impact leg-spinners can have in T20 cricket.
“With the way batsmen strike the ball, you need bowlers that can take wickets throughout the innings.
“Ish is a natural attacking leg-spinner who can create pressure and get us some crucial breakthroughs in the middle overs.

With Sodhi in the squad alongside fellow teammate, Dan Christian and the boldness of keeping a largely stable squad is exactly what they need to have a flourishing summer this time too thinks Peter Moores.
“We spoke to Andre Adams who said great things about Ish’s character. He absolutely loves the game. “He’s also a good fielder, he bats down the order and will be part of the side for the whole tournament, which is a big thing.
“To have a settled unit with Dan and Ish right the way through, it means we can be really clear in the style we’re playing.” Concluded Peter Moores.
